30/30 Meditation Program - Day 27
Welcome to day 27 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! Today we will focus on the energy center located at the heart. It is associated with love, expansion, openness, integration, and radiance. When we are balanced in this area we feel both grounded and free, we are self-accepting, trusting, compassionate, forgiving, hopeful, and emotionally empowered. We are also able to reach out to touch others as well as be touched bot others people and experiences. When our heart center is overactive we may be too airy, lonely, isolated, afraid of being hurt, or desperate for love and attention. When our heart center is underactive we may be joyless, judgmental, possessive, selfish, self-conscious, anti-social, fear intimacy, and unfulfilled.
Today I invite you to reflect on how balanced you feel in matters of the heart – your sense of love, trust, compassion, forgiveness, self-acceptance. Do you feel like your heart center is over or underactive (as described above)? Are there changes that you would like to make in these areas of your life? If so, what is your way forward, or plan of action? In what areas of your life do you want to EXPAND?
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 26
Welcome to day 26 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! Today we will focus on the energy center located near your core/navel. It is associated with your personality, identity and ego, as well as willpower and the ability to bring about change and growth. When we are balanced in this area, we feel unique, valued, confident and energetic. People respond well to us and respect us, sensing our power and strength. When we are blocked in this area we tend to try to manipulate (or be manipulated by) others, we may lack sensitivity to others, become judgmental, perfectionist, or overbearing. We may also have emotions at extremes, from anger and hatred (expressed or not) to neediness, attention seeking, low self-confidence, or a victim narrative.
Today I invite you to reflect on how balanced and/or blocked you feel when you reflect on your identity (your sense of who you are) and/or your ability to bring about change and growth in your life. Where do you feel blocked and where do you feel balanced (in terms of your self-image and/or your power and strength to be a change agent)?
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 24
Welcome to day 24 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! We are in the final week and in these last 7 days of the program I would like to focus on seven central energy centers in our bodies. Today we will focus on the base of the spine. This energy center is associated with our survival, material conditions, and sense of security or protection.
When we are balanced in this area there is a sense of stability, security, and safety. There is also positive energy, community, and rewarding relationships. When this energy center is blocked we may become overly rigid, very controlling, and resistant to change. Emotionally we may feel disconnected, disoriented, and indecisive. Physically we may feel tired, overweight, having aches, pains, and poor balance.
Today I invite you to reflect on how balanced and/or blocked you feel when you reflect on your survival, material conditions, and sense of security or protection in various aspects of your life and relationships. Where do you feel blocked and where do you feel balanced? (For example, you may feel more balanced and secure in your personal life but feel more blocked or disoriented in your professional life, or vice versa.)
YOGA – If you have tried yoga before, then a few poses that are good for this energy center are: (starting with your back on the mat) knees to your chest, happy baby, and bridge; (starting with your stomach on the mat) cobra, locust, and downward dog. Of course, you should consult your doctor before starting a new exercise practice.
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 23
Welcome to day 23 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! Yesterday I invited you to think about what you WANT, DESIRE, and/or are PASSIONATE about.
Did you find it uncomfortable to identify your wants, desires, and passions? Did it feel too self-indulgent? If so, today I invite you to think about WHY it may have felt uncomfortable or self-indulgent (consider your family of origin, social norms, other influences from others, or even self)?
Perhaps it was not uncomfortable to identify your wants, desires, and passions. Maybe you have all kinds of journals and lists and dream boards full of your desires and passions - but you are not actually pursuing them. If this describes you, I would encourage you to think about what is holding you back from pursuing your passions? What are you afraid will happen (or not happen) if you identify and pursue your passions?
If you are not in either of the above categories, but rather you are living and pursuing your wants, desires, and passion – CONGRATS! I invite you to show yourself some love and appreciation for making this important aspect of your life a priority.
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 22
Welcome to day 22 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! So often we are just trying to get through the daily routines of home/family and work. In the daily grind, we can lose track of what we really want, desire, and/or are passionate about. Today I invite you to think about what you WANT, DESIRE, and/or are PASSIONATE about. If you want to go a step further, take a concrete action today that is aligned with your desires and passions.
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 21
Welcome to day 21 of the 30/30 Meditation Program! I am sure that you have heard the claim (myth?) that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. This idea came from a plastic surgeon named Maxwell Maltz who observed that it took a MINIMUM of 21 days for patients who had surgery (e.g. a nose job or limb amputation) to get used to the new look of their faces or feeling of a phantom limb. Over time the MINIMUM part of that claim got lost. Habits do not magically form because we do them for 21 day (or even 30 days). I say all of this to encourage you if you have been meditating consistently for the last 21 days and yet it still does not feel like a Habit or like second nature. Cultivating habits takes awareness, action, and accountability in community. My intention for this 30/30 Meditation Program is that it provides awareness, action, and accountability in community on your meditation journey.
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 20
Welcome to day 20 of the 30/30 Meditation Program. You are officially 2/3 of the way through the program - only 10 days remaining! I hope that at this point you have built some positive momentum in your meditation practice. If not, you still have ten days left to really get going (for real, this time :-). Today I invite you reflect on your intentions in joining the 30/30 Meditation Program. Think about your WHY. Why do you meditate (or want to meditate)? What are your desires for your meditation practice? What benefits have you experienced from meditation in the past? What benefits do you want to experience from meditation now? What does your ideal daily mediation practice entail? Your intention(s) and ideal(s) may be very simple or more complex. No matter what your intentions may be, revisit them and reconnect to them for the final push on the 30/30 Meditation Program.
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 19
Welcome to day 19 of the 30/30 Meditation Program. The number 19 is associated with surrender. Today I invite you to reflect on areas in your life where you want to let go, stop holding on/pushing back/resisting, and choose to simply surrender. What has prevented you from letting go? What has been the price or impact of holding on? What are you afraid of? What would surrender look and feel like (in your heart, mind, body, actions)?
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 18
Welcome to day 18 of the 30/30 Meditation Program. The number 18 is associated with abundance, inner strength, and leadership. Today I invite you to reflect on the meaning of abundance for you. What does abundance look like and feel like? In what areas of your life is there abundance? In what areas of your life is there scarcity? How can you use your inner strength and leadership to experience abundance in those places in which there now seems to be scarcity?
30/30 Meditation Program - Day 17
Welcome to Day 17 of the 30/30 Meditation Program. The number 17 is associated with self-discipline and spiritual consciousness. Today you are invited to reflect on the areas in your life in which you are able to practice self-discipline as well as the areas in your life where you could practice more self-discipline. (This is not a call for self flagellation or being hard on yourself. Rather it is a gentle reminder to be mindful about this aspect of your life.) You are also invited to ponder how you would characterize your spiritual consciousness.
